Nanluoguxiang is dotted with many vintage shops and stores and the Plastered 8 is one of them. It is considered as the Beijing’s most famous creative street wear brand. Founded in 2006, the shop has been a must-going spot for many domestic and foreign visitors.
Vintage T-shirts, the flagship products of the shop, are full of Beijing flavor with symbols of Beijing such as Beijing subway ticket, Kun Pao Chicken and Chinese character xi (囍). Besides T-shirts, all kinds of items including enameled cups and thermos flasks can be bought here as well.
The shop is adorned with strong Beijing style: the sign of the shop “Plaster 8” is in white color on a blue board, which looks like the room number of old dormitory building in Beijing. In addition, items that Beijingers are familiar with such as lamp of barber shop and tricycle are placed. The shop has been introduced by many famous TV programs in China.
What is most surprised is that, the shop is a brainchild of a British man Jiang Senhai, who fell in love with Beijing when he came to Beijing for the first time. After living in China for over 20 years, he is an old China hand now and speaks Mandarin fluently.
