Chici Heping Temple

Chici Heping Temple is an ancient temple in north China. Chici means that the temple’s name was given by the emperor of that time, and Heping means peace. The Chici Heping Temple, which is also called Huata Temple, was built in the Tang Dynasty. Emperor Li Shimin of the Tang Dynasty had inscribed the name Chici Heping Temple in person. The temple is known as an activity center for the Buddhist ceremonies of Beijing in the past dynasties.

With a constructed area of over 7,000 square meters, it has in total 99 rooms. The temple consists of two courtyards---the east courtyard and the west courtyard. The east courtyard has Amitabha Buddha Hall, Sakyamuni Hall, Boundless Grief Hall and Heavenly King Hall, while the west courtyard is composed of Forefather Hall, Medicine King Hall and Goddess Hall.

Features: Chici Heping Temple has many rare precious ancient trees. An old Japanese pagoda tree with a history of more than 1,300 years is still growing well inside the mountain gate of the temple. Two exuberant maidenhair trees with rich fruit grow in front of the main hall. In addition, there is also an old white skin pine tree about 30 meters high and shaped like a sleeping dragon. The temple fair held at the temple has offered a very good chance for people to know more about the excellent traditional Chinese culture.
