Gubeikou Great Wall (古北口长城)

Gubeikou Great Wall boasts the most complete great wall system in the history of the Great Wall in China. Consists of one part built during the North Qi Dynasty, and the other part built in the Ming Dynasty, it includes four sections as Wohu Mountain, Panlong Mountain, Jinshanling and Simatai. The Great Wall occupies a strategically important location between Shanghaiguan Pass and Juyongguan Pass, which has always been a politically diverse battleground.

The present Gubeikou Great Wall spreads around 40 km, consisting of 172 watch towers, 14 beacon towers, 16 strategic passes, 3 water passes and many other military constructions. The appearance of the towers seems similar, but their inside structure varies too much especially the ceiling which are flat, arched or domed. In the Wohushan Great Wall, there are rare twin towers and the Shuiguan Great Wall with the longest span.
