Drum Tower (鼓楼）

Beijing's Drum Tower is one of the best tourist sites to visit in Beijing. It is located to the north of Dianmenwai Street. The area where the tower stands was the oldest commercial area in Old Beijing. According to the construction principle at that time, the Beijing Drum Tower Street which is in the right astern of the imperial city was one of the most important parts in the capital of the Yuan Dynasty. Both sides of Beijing's Drum Tower were crowded with the wealthy and the ordinary. In the lane there were many courtyards of influential officials and elegant houses of ordinary people.

The shops stand shoulder to shoulder and attract many tourists. The lively scenery irradiates elegant demeanor of the ancient city.

The Beijing Drum Tower opens at 9 am and closes at 4:30 pm every day. The ticket price is 10 yuan. Tourists can take Beijing Subway Line 2 to get there.
