Read MoreCao Xueqin was a Chinese writer during the Qing dynasty. He is best known as the author of Dream of the Red Chamber, one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature. The Cao Xueqin Memorial Hall was built in 1984. It was originally a small village museum constructed centering on No. 39 House of Zhengbaiqi. In 1971, several wall-scribed poems were discovered on the west wall of the No. 39 House of Zhengbaiqi. And one of the poems was found to mesh with the couplet which was believed to be from E Bi to Cao Xueqin. Therefore, some of the research scholars of Dream of the Red Chamberwere convinced that it was the house where Cao Xueqin lived and wrote in his twilight years. The hall is believed to be the only place that’s associated with Cao Xueqin and his masterpiece, Dream of the Red Chamber.
Among the collections are relics related to Cao Xueqin’s origin and his family’s connection to Zhengbaiqi Village as well as the duplicates of items described in the masterpiece, Dream of the Red Chamber, etc.
