Lao She's Former Residence（老舍故居）

There were 10 residences Lao She once lived in, both before and after the liberation, in Beijing, nine before the liberation and one after the liberation. Situated at the No.19 Fengfu Hutong of West Dengshikou Street in Dongcheng District was the residence Lao She bought at the beginning of 1950 upon his return from the United States and where Lao She had lived until his death. The residence accompanied Lao She through 16 years and witnessed the most productive years of Lao She. It was in this residence he wrote his world-renowned dramas including Longxu Ditch and Teahouse.

The exhibits in the Lao She Memorial Hall include the layout of his residence (quadrangle courtyard in Beijing), traces of his life and artworks. The collections of the Lao She Memorial Hall contain letters, the ink painting featuring wild gooses by Lin Fengmian (the first president of China Academy of Art), the black-glazed wine pot with a pattern of sunflower, Wooden Kang Table, etc.
