Qi Baishi’s Former Residence（齐白石故居）

Qi Baishi was an influential Chinese painter known for his whimsical style. He owned two residences in total in Beijing. One of them is the Memorial Hall of Qi Baishi’s Former Residence in the Yu’er Hutong now open to the public. The other is on the west side of the bustling Xidan Shopping Center lies a timeworn quadrangle courtyard that seems to be immune to all the hustle and bustle in the shopping center. This is the former residence of Qi Baishi (a master painter in Chinese history). It’s situated at the No.13 Kuache Hutong. Facing East, the residence is a three-courtyard house with two courtyards on its wings. Qi Baishi moved into the residence at 50 and had lived here until his death.
