Honored as one of the ten most beautiful railway stations in China, the Qinglongqiao Railway Station is located at the foot of the Badaling Great Wall of Yanqing District in Beijing; and it was built in 1908, which is a railway station that has witnessed the century-old development of Chinese railways. Along with a picture of “the train to spring” being popular on the Internet, the small railway station on the Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway is also getting more and more attentions.
Built in 1908, Qinglongqiao Railway Station is a small station along the Beijing–Baotou Railway (the former Beijing–Zhangjiakou Railway) located in the Yanqing District of Beijing. Among the 1,943 cultural relics published by the State Council as the major historical and cultural sites protected at the national level in the 7th batch in 2013, 27 were selected in Beijing, of which the 104-year-old railway section from Nankou to Badaling of the old Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway has been upgraded as “Guobao(relics protected at the national level)”. It is known that this was the only railway section on the list of the 7th batch of “Guobao” that is still in operation.
Qinglongqiao station still retains the running mode of a hundred years ago, that is to say all trains must stop here for a short while, and turn back to move ahead after passing through the famous “zigzag railway”. This station is located at the 20-kilometer railway section from Nankou to Badaling, a well-preserved section of the century-old Beijing-Zhangjiakou Railway, with five old stations scattered all along, namely Nankou, Dongyuan, Juyongguan, Sanpu and Qinglongqiao. Qinglongqiao Railway Station was established as an industrial heritage by the Capital Museum as early as 2008. Its buildings and the tomb of Zhan Tianyou were all repaired and restored to their original features, and have been opened to the public as a patriotism education base, which attracts many tourists every day to visit after a few kilometers of mountain roads.
