There is an extremely mysterious place in Beijing, which is even hardly known by many local people. It is Xihuang Temple. Founded in 1651 and costed a large amount of money, the temple was originally the gathering place of Dalai Lama and catered for several eminent monks. In the following 300 years, it was closed to the public.
Nowadays, the place has become High-level Tibetan Buddhism College of China and built the only Tibetan Buddhism Cultural Museum in Beijing - Xihuang Temple Museum. On 18th May, 2015, Xihuang Temple Museum announced that it would open to the public on the weekend.
The temple is divided into three courtyards and covers an area of around 20,000 square meters. The museum contains Buddhist pagoda relics, dharma instruments, Buddha status, thangka paintings, sutra scrolls and so on. Besides permanent exhibitions, the museum sometimes carries out temporary exhibitions such as a thangka exhibition and Buddhist ceramic art exhibition.
Tanzhe Temple is a historic temple in Beijing, with a history of more than 1,700 years. A saying goes that " There is Tanzhe Temple first, and then comes Beijing city ".
Beijing Confucian Temple nestles north of the eastern side of Guozijian Street aka Chengxian Street inside Anding Gate.
The remaining five square pagodas are also the reason why Zhenjue Temple is commonly known as the "Five Pagoda Temple".
