Site of Sino-French University

Site of Sino-French University is a combination of Western structure and Chinese tile roof. The buildings and facilities including teaching buildings, auditoriums and library, have remained their integrity and style so far.
Sino-French University originated from the movement of work-study program in France in the early 20th century, which has played an important role in the history of modern Chinese education and in the history of Sino-French cultural exchanges. From its establishment in 1920 to its closure in 1950, Sino-French University insisted to carry out the policies for running the school proposed by its first principal, Cai Yuanpei. The university cultivated a number of students with patriotic feelings and progressive thoughts. Chen Yi, once engaged a work-study program in France, entered Sino-French University in 1923 and served as the Party branch secretary of the University from 1924 to 1925, which was his first position in Communist Party of China.
