Beijing Wild Duck Lake Wetland Nature Reserve is located in the northwestern part of Yanqing District, Beijing, belonging to the transition zone from the North China Plain to the Shanxi Plateau and Inner Mongolia Plateau. It is the transit station of the international bird migration route "East Asia-Australia Route". The area was originally located in the eastern part of the Yanqing Basin in the lower reaches of the Guishui and Caijia rivers. In 1955, the Guanting Reservoir was built, creating a huge artificial lake wetland. The reserve is in the middle and upper reaches of the reservoir, where there are many ditches and reservoir bays. The total area of the reserve is 6,873 hectares, of which 3,939 hectares are wetlands. It is the largest wetland nature reserve in Beijing, and the only wetland bird nature reserve. According to statistics, the total number of bird species in the wetland of Wild Duck Lake reaches 280 species, including 9 species of national-level protected animals and 40 species of national-level 2 protected animals. In addition, there are 420 species of higher plants, 40 species of fish, 5 species of amphibians, 10 species of animals and 182 species of insects.

The caves are cut into the gravel granite rocks of the cliff wall during the Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties by the "Xiren Quzhu Tribe". It is a protected cultural relic unit in Beijing.
