Miyun Reservoir is situated 13 km north of Miyun County seat and is surrounded by the ranges of Yanshan Mountain. The reservoir is the link between Chaohe River and Baihe River and now the largest man-made lake in Asia. People always compliment it as the “Pearl of Yanshan Mountain”.

The beautiful waters and sacred mountains are the features that attract tourists visiting the reservoir. As soon as you arrive at the reservoir, what you see at first is the huge dam. Standing on the top of the dam, you will have an extremely broad view of the world in front of your eyes.

A highway of 110 km around the lake has been built. Walking or driving along the lake highway, you will be able to fully experience the natural beauty of it. Located northwest of Baihe Dam is a 900 meter high summit named Five Buildings (五座楼: Wu Zuo Lou). On the mountain summit there are 5 beacons, which really look awe-aspiring. It is an idea place for travel if you have enough free time. Near the reservoir is a beautiful park, where you can take a stroll or have a good rest.
