Qianling Mountain Scenic Spot (千灵山风景区)

Qianling Mountain was given the name because it enjoys the light of the sun and the moon, situated about 30 kilometers away from downtown Beijing in Fengtai District. The scenic area covers an area of 12.5 square meters. The main peak of it is named Extreme Happiness Peak, which is 699 meters above sea level.

This area enjoys a long history of Buddhist culture, and has the largest grotto group temples in Beijing. Although more than 1,000 years have passed, this temple is still a hotspot for pilgrims. Inside this area many grottos are dotted with numerous grottos which were built by the monks during the Sui and Tang Dynasties in ancient China. Nowadays tourists visiting the area can see Buddha’s statues, carvings, Buddhist pagodas, stone wells and so on. Through all these antiques, we can date back to the past and experience their prosperity.

In addition to these Buddhist grottos, Qianling Mountain is also a place to experience ancient Chinese scholars’ works, for many ancient Chinese scholars have visited this mountain and left their own painting and calligraphic works inside the mountain. Some renowned painters’ and calligraphers’ artworks can be found here too, and many of their works are related to Buddhism.

Riding the cable car can also be a mesmerizing experience, because you can view the ranges of mountains, ancient caves, strange rocks, green trees and waterfalls at the same time from above. In addition, 273 species of plants are found here and 54 kinds of wild animals pass in front of your eyes. It is indeed an amazing plan for tourists.
