Female Muslim Mosque (清真女寺)

Located at No. 39 Shouliu Hutong, Xicheng District, Muslim Female Temple, simplified Female Mosque, is the church for female Muslims only. The mosque was built because there were no shower places for female Muslims around the Niujie Area for residences here are too mall. Called by He Deren, Ma Zhiqing donated a piece of land with a well at Shouliu Hutong and bought materials to build the mosque. Now the mosque is one protective site of Xicheng District.

As many mosques are not accessible for females, mosques only for women came into being in the 1900s. This kind of mosque only exits in China and it can be independent or accessory. The manager of the mosque must be female and it must be completely cut off from the men’s place.
