Sansheng Nunnery (三圣庵)

Located to the east of Liuxiang Road, west of Haizibian, Sansheng Nunnery was called Sansheng Temple Street. It changed to Sansheng Nunnery after in the Republic of China era.

The nunnery was built in the Song dynasty, 1,000 years ago. Sansheng nunnery is different in pattern with other Chinese temples for its gate is face to west rather than south.

Marriage Tree: There is a “Marriage Tree ” inside the Sansheng Nunnery which said that can make a wish about marriage. Many red thread were hanging here represent the wishes people have made here.

Legend of the Nunnery: It is said that Chengyang Princesses became a nun in Sansheng Nunnery because she can’t married the man she loved. The marriage tree is planed by her to show that she was missing her lover.
