The total length of the river is 8.6 kilometers, covering a total area of 10,700 mu (about 713 hectares). The park started construction in April 2009 and was put into trial operation on September 25, 2010. More than 400,000 trees and shrubs of all kinds were planted in the park, including 276.93 hectares of new green space and 141.95 hectares of renovated green space. It is the first project to be approved among the 11 10,000 mu riverfront forest parks built in Beijing, and it is also the first forest park to be opened to visitors for free. Adhering to the design concept of "taking green as body and water as soul to achieve harmony between forest and water", the park has built "one river, two banks, six gardens and 18 views". In general, it has the characteristics of perfect ecological function, energy-saving and environmental protection, profound cultural deposits and obvious location advantage.
