Chaoyang Park

Chaoyang Park, formerly known as Shuidui Park, was built in November 1984. The total planned area is 288.7 hectares, including 68.2 hectares of water surface area and 87% of green space. As the largest urban park within the 4th Ring Road of Beijing, Chaoyang Park is one of the key projects in the Beijing Urban Master Plan approved by the State Council. The Comprehensive Plan of Chaoyang Park Master Plan approved by the Municipal Planning Commission defines Chaoyang Park as a comprehensive, multi-functional large-scale cultural leisure and entertainment park with a focus on landscaping. For 34 years, the construction of Chaoyang Park has been highly valued by the CPC and governments at all levels. The central leading comrades have come to Chaoyang Park three times in 1992, 1996 and 2004 to participate in the national compulsory tree planting activities. In December 1999, General Secretary Jiang Zemin personally inscribed the name of the park.
In 2008, the 29th Beijing Olympic Games beach volleyball tournament was held in Chaoyang Park. In 2009, a beach theme park was built, which became a model for post-competition utilization of Beijing Olympic venues. Chaoyang Park has more than 30 attractions, such as the Central Leader Tree Planting Forest, the Source of Life, the Art Square, the Wolong Water Landscape, and the Spring Garden. There are also sports and cultural entertainment projects such as Braveheart World amusement park, Tennis Center, Badminton Court, Sony Dream and Lego Town. In July 2006, Chaoyang Park was awarded the "Chaoyang Park International Cultural Exhibition Gathering Area" by Chaoyang District. The park is home to three major international fashion and cultural brand events, including the "Spring Festival Chaoyang International Style Festival", the "Ocean Beach Carnival" and the "October 1st Chaoyang International Tourism and Culture Festival". Among them, the "Ocean Beach Carnival" was awarded as an excellent cultural event in Beijing. FIVB World Beach Volleyball Grand Slam Beijing will be held in Chaoyang Park Beach Volleyball Main Arena for five consecutive years.
Chaoyang Park has formed a comprehensive park brand with culture, sports, fitness, recreation and ecology in one. It is also known as the "green lung" of eastern Beijing, playing an important role in improving the ecological environment of eastern Beijing and enriching the cultural life of the citizens.
