Yanqi Lake

Located at the foot of Yanshan Mountain and the side of the Great Wall, Yanqi Lake is named after the flocks of geese that often come to roost in the lake in spring and autumn every year. In 1985, Yanqi Lake was approved by the Beijing Municipal Government as a key tourism development project in Beijing during the "Seventh Five-Year Plan" period, and was officially opened to the public in 1987. In 2002, Yanqi Lake was designated as an international AAAA-class tourist scenic area. In 2014, the APEC APEC Leaders' Informal Meeting was held in Yanqi Lake. President Xi Jinping once praised the beautiful scenery of Yanqi Lake by quoting the poem of Bai Juyi, "Wind spray Potentilla one thousand, the wild blue sky at his word ". In May 2017, the "Belt and Road" International Cooperation Summit Forum was held here to discuss cooperation plans, build cooperation platforms and share cooperation achievements. At that time, Yanqi Lake became the focus of the world again.
Yanqi Lake is composed of two lakes, the East and the West, covering a wide water surface. The reservoir capacity is 38 million m³, the water surface is 230 ㎡, and the maximum water depth is 25 m. With its flat terrain and wide waters, Yanqi Lake is ideal for all kinds of water and land recreation projects，making it a famous tourist scenic spot and water park in the suburbs of Beijing. Yanqi Lake has dragon boats, painting boats, speed boats, electric boats, big yellow duck boats and other water sightseeing boats, in addition to more than ten land entertainment projects such as rapids, water flying descent, entertainment sports cars, bumper cars, animation train, carousel, etc., which can meet the entertainment needs of different groups.
The overall planning scope of Yanqi Lake Ecological Development Demonstration Area is 31 km², including 21 km² of the international capital and 10 km² of Yanqi Town. After the APEC meeting, within 21 km², a comprehensive guide system has been built with Yanqi Lake as the core, 13-kilometer slow walking system around the lake and a cycling system, sightseeing cars and ferries and ferry boats have been set up, and there are currently eight car charging piles. The convenient transportation system and perfect service system greatly facilitate the tour and fitness activities in Yanqi Lake area. Visitors can take a boat tour around the lake and the island, or take a car tour, a cycling tour or a hiking tour along the road around the lake.
