Yanqi Lake International Tourism Resort（雁栖湖景区）

Yanqi Hu (Lake) is located at the foot of the Yanshan Mountains and beside the Great Wall. Every spring and autumn, flocks of wild geese often come to inhabit the lake, hence its name. Approved by the People’s Government of Beijing Municipality in 1985, Yanqi Hu (Lake) was listed as a key tourism development project of Beijing during the "Seventh Five-Year Plan" period and officially opened to tourists in 1987. In 2002, Yanqi Lake International Tourism Resort was rated as a National AAAA-level Tourist Attraction; in 2014, the 22nd Economic Leaders’ Meeting was held here, and President Xi Jinping quoted Bai Juyi's poem "The wind flips a thousand pieces of white waves, wild geese dot the blue sky in a line" to praise the beautiful scenery of Yanqi Hu (Lake). In May 2017, the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation was held here to discuss cooperation plans, build cooperation platforms, and share cooperation achievements, making Yanqi Lake the focus of global attention once again.
Yanqi Lake International Tourism Resort is a comprehensive scenic area centered on water. The water of Yanqi Hu (Lake) is formed by the confluence of water from the upper reaches of Lianhua Spring, which is clear and emerald green, and the climate in the lake area is pleasant. The good ecological environment has attracted rare birds such as swans and cranes to play in the lake, adding vitality to Yanqi Hu (Lake).
The tourism resort consists of two lake areas, east and west, with a wide water surface, a storage capacity of 38.3 million cubic meters, a water area of 230 hectares, a lakeshore line of more than 20 kilometers, and a maximum water depth of 25 meters. Yanqi Lake International Tourism Resort, with its flat terrain and wide water area, is very suitable for carrying out various water and land entertainment projects, and is a famous tourist scenic area and water park in the suburbs of Beijing. Currently, Yanqi Lake International Tourism Resort has various water sightseeing boats including dragon boats, painted pleasure boats, speedboats, electric boats, big yellow duck boats, kayaks, and paddleboards. In addition, there are more than ten land entertainment projects such as Torrent Ride, Water Zip Line, Entertainment Sports Cars, Bumper Cars, Animation Mini Train, and Carousel, which can meet the entertainment needs of different groups.
The overall planning scope of Yanqi Lake Ecological Development Pioneer Demonstration Zone is 31 square kilometers, including two major construction sectors: the 21-square-kilometer International Conference Resort and the 10-square-kilometer Yanqi Community. After the 22nd Economic Leaders' Meeting with Yanqi Lake International Tourism Resort as the core, within the 21-square-kilometer area, a complete navigation and sign system has been built, a 13-kilometer lakeside slow-traffic system and cycling system have been created, and sightseeing buses, shuttle buses, and shuttle boats have been set up. Currently, there are 8 electric vehicle charging piles. The convenient transportation system and improved service system have greatly facilitated tourism and fitness activities in Yanqi Lake International Tourism Resort. Tourists can take a boat for a lakeside tour or an island tour, or take a bus, ride a bike, or hike along the lakeside road.
In 2018, Yanqi Lake International Tourism Resort officially joined the municipal-level resource unit of Beijing's Primary and Secondary School Social Practice Classroom. Through various activities such as visits, expansion courses, and hands-on production, it enriches the content of social practice activities for primary and secondary school students; in 2019, a kayaking water base was established in the scenic area. With competitions as the carrier, the base promotes the in-depth integration of sports + tourism, sports + education, sports + culture and other industries, providing high-quality water sports experience and competition experience for tourists; in 2022, Yanqi Lake International Tourism Resort was rated as a Red Tourism Scenic Area and a New Era Civilization Practice Base in Huairou, Beijing. Adopting various teaching methods such as narrative, immersive experience, interactive, and on-site experience, it has built a new platform and position for learning Party history, singing red songs, civilized practice, and learning new-era ideological theories. In April 2023, Wanmu Camping Ground settled in Yanqi Lake International Tourism Resort. Located in the Rose Garden of Yanqi Lake International Tourism Resort, Wanmu Camping Ground covers an area of 1,000 square meters, with 3 self-setup tent campsites and 10 fixed awnings, capable of receiving groups or individual tourists for camping, team building, afternoon tea and other projects.
After 30 years of development and construction, Yanqi Lake International Tourism Resort has fully utilized its unique natural tourism resources, transforming an ordinary medium-sized reservoir into a municipal-level scenic spot and a National AAAA-level Tourist Attraction, and developing an ordinary reservoir management institution into a tourist resort integrating sightseeing and leisure vacation, making contributions to establishing a good tourism image of Huairou.
