Located at the foot of Yanshan Mountain and the side of the Great Wall, Yanqi Lake is named after the flocks of geese that often come to roost in the lake in spring and autumn every year. In 1985, Yanqi Lake was approved by the Beijing Municipal Government as a key tourism development project in Beijing during the "Seventh Five-Year Plan" period, and was officially opened to the public in 1987. In 2002, Yanqi Lake was designated as an international AAAA-class tourist scenic area.
Yougu Shentan Natural Scenic Area is located in the north of Duanshuling Village, Huaibei Town, Huairou District, and at the southern foot of Yunmeng Mountain. It is 75 kilometers from Beijing, and the total area of the scenic area is about 6 square kilometers. It takes 2-3 hours to walk from the foot of the mountain to the top.
Baiquan Mountain Scenic Area is located between Yanqi Lake and Yougu Shentian in Huairou District and was built in 1997. It covers an area of about 20 square kilometers, with an altitude of 300 to 1,100 meters. The area features a temperate semi-humid continental monsoon climate and a vegetation coverage of over 95%. There are 3 dry valleys of 10-15 kilometers long, over 100 peaks, hundreds of mountain springs, over 10 waterfalls and over 300 pools.
Due to the special geographical location of the Qinglong Gorge area, it has developed a special food culture - the traditional food "28 Xi", which consists of eight plates and eight bowls of dishes.
