Prince Kung's Mansion

Prince Kung's Mansion is one of the best-preserved imperial mansions in Beijing and was built in the 41st year of the Qianlong era of the Qing Dynasty(1776). There were two prominent masters here, one of whom was the Qianlong Emperor's favorite official, Heshen, and the other was Prince Kung,Yixin,during the Tongzhi period. The residence was named after the residence of Prince Kung,Yixin.
The Prince Kung's Mansion consists of two parts: the residence and the garden. The total area is about 60,000 square meters, including 32,000 square meters for the residence and 28,000 square meters for the gardens. It was listed as a national key cultural relic protection unit in 1982.
The residence is divided into three roads, with a total of five compounds, and the scale of the buildings is exquisite and magnificent. The roofs of the middle road buildings are green glazed tiles, inferior only to the architectural scale of the imperial palace. The garden is named "Cuijin Garden", which means the collection of all the beauties. The overall layout is surrounded by hills on three sides, with more than 40 landscapes and attractions belonging to the East, Middle and West Roads. Wandering through the garden is like walking among the mountains and waters.

After the Qing Dynasty set its capital in Beijing, all the Han people in the inner city were moved to the outer city, and the inner city was occupied by the Manchu people.
