Cherry Gully

There is a summer wonderland hidden in the Beijing Botanical Garden, and that is Cherry Gully, northwest of Reclining Buddha Temple. It is named after the cherry trees planted on both sides of the mountain stream during the Ming Dynasty. The Metasequoia trees, known as "living fossils", have formed a forest here.

Cherry Gully

There is a summer wonderland hidden in the Beijing Botanical Garden, and that is Cherry Gully, northwest of Reclining Buddha Temple. It is named after the cherry trees planted on both sides of the mountain stream during the Ming Dynasty. The Metasequoia trees, known as "living fossils", have formed a forest here.
It is a good choice for either touring, taking photos or exercising. More than 200 Metasequoia trees are planted in Cherry Gully, forming the largest Metasequoia forest in the north. Therefore, it is also known as "Beijing's Twilight Forest". The winding wooden paths stretch all over the gully, following the stream to the depths. The sunlight cast into the mist-covered forest, resembling a fairyland.
