It covers a total area of 18 square kilometers. Xiangshui Lake Scenic Area integrates the Great Wall, ancient caves, mountains, springs, waterfalls and Ming Dynasty cliff carvings into one. It is a unique and beautiful tourist resort in the suburb of Beijing. The name is not because there is a great stretch of water, but loud sound of running water. At the source of the spring, the sound is as loud as thunder and can be heard even kilometers away, hence is named "Xiangshui Lake". Xiangshui Lake is the largest spring in Huairou District. It is a drinking water source for residents nearby, and also one of the sources of Huairou Reservoir. It produces 0.3 cubic meters of water per second, with a daily flow of 25,937 tons. The water is sweet and refreshing.
