Tuanhe Temporary Palace was the grandest among the four imperial palaces in the Southern Garden during the Qing Dynasty. Tuanhe Temporary Palace was the grandest among the four imperial palaces in the Southern Garden during the Qing Dynasty. It covers an area of over 500 acres and was initially constructed in the 37th year of the Qianlong reign (1772) and completed in the 42nd year of the Qianlong reign (1777). With two Tuanhe lakes as its centerpiece, the palace was surrounded by earthen hills. It featured palace walls between the outer and inner rings of the hills. On the hills and by the lakeside, there were more than a dozen pavilions and terraces, including the Dragon King Temple, Jinghong Pavilion, Cuirun Villa, and Yubei Pavilion. In total, there were 603 different sorts of chambers.
