Qianmen Street (前门大街景区)

Being a famous commercial street of Beijing, Qianmen Street is located on the central axis of urban Beijing, spanning from the northern Qianmen Yueliangwan (Moon Bay)to the southern road junction of Beijing Bridge, connecting with Tianqiao South Street. The present shops with street frontage on Qianmen Street were developed after the Qing Dynasty. From the Ming and Qing Dynasties to the period of the Republic of China, Qianmen Street, commonly known by the folk, was called “Zhengyangmen Street”. In 1965, the official name has been set to “Qianmen Street”.

As the crucial gateway for entering the inner city and hub of Qianmen business district, Qianmen Street ties Dashilan, Xianyukou Gourmet Street, Xiheyan Street, Damochang Street, Langfang 1st Alley and Guanyinsi Street, circling the important business area with strong characteristics. On the contrary to the solemnity and serenity in Yongdingmen, the bustling street is crowded with innumerable commodities and people.

With a history spanning centuries, Qianmen Street is home to many time-honored brands, such as Qunjude, Refosian and Zhangyiyuan. As a must-try snack street for tourists, it has accumulated many long-standing stores, such as Qunjude Peking Duck, Duyichu Shaomai (a steamed dim sum made of glutinous rice, pork mince, Chinese mushroom and onion), Yitiaolong Restaurant and Kaifeng Diyilou Soup Dumpling. If you want to enjoy the most authentic Beijing-style delicacies, Qianmen is your choice.
