The founder of Nai Lao Wei is Wei Hongchen. It is said that after he stole the technique of making cheese from royal chefs, he started to sell cheese at the entrance of theatres in Dashilar. In 1888, Wei Hongchen rented a shop at No.15Menkuang Hutong, Qianmenwai Street, Beijing, and founded "Linji Cheese Shop", which was specialized in selling cheese. In 1988, Wei's Cheese Shop changed its name to "Nai Lao Wei ".
