Qianxiangyi

Qianxiangyi, the predecessor of Beijing Silk Shop, was now located at the north of Qianmen Street in Beijing. Qianxiangyi Silk Shop was founded around 1830 in the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty. Its shareholder, Meng Yuxi, was from the Jiujun town in Zhangqiu City, Shandong Province. In the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty, he walked across the streets and lanes to sell the cloth. After making profit, he opened the first cloth store. In the Qing Dynasty, Qianxiangyi mainly served the imperial and the distinguished officials. Ma Lianliang, the master of Peking Opera was once the regular customer of Qianxiangyi.
