Wangzhihe

It is said that in Qing Dynasty, there was a student named Wangzhihe who went to the capital to take the exam but unfortunately failed. Because of the lack of money, he had to stayed in the capital and started to selling tofu. One day in summer, Wang did not sell all tofu that he made this morning, so he took the left back to home. In order to keep tofu edible, he sliced them into cubes, sprinkled with salt and pepper, and pickled them into a small jar. After that, Wang was deeply involved in his preparation for the next exam and left his self-made tofu all behind. In the same year, one day in autumn, Wang suddenly realized that he had tofu in the jar. He opened the lit and found that the tofu had turned to green color with stinky smell. Because it was so pity to throw them all, Wang called up all his courage to taste it, but surprisingly found that it tasted pretty good. He sent those special tofu to his neighbors who all agreed that the flavor was unique but tasty; therefore, the name of Wangzhihe stinky tofu has become well-known.

Found in Qing Dynasty (1669). Wangzhihe has had a history of more than 300 years. As an authentic Chinese time-honored brand that is famous for its stinky tofu and fermented bean curd.
