Yidege

Famous for its ink, Yidege has had a history of more than 100 years. In the Qing Dynasty, there was a student named Xie Songdai who had went to the capital to take the exam but unfortunately failed. He realized that grinding ink was time-consuming in the exam, so he got the inspiration to design a type of ink which can be written directly without being ground. After several experiments, Xie finally succeeded. Once this new type of ink was put into the market, it received a great popularity among men of literature and writing. At No.44 Liulichang, Beijing, Xie opend his first store specializing in selling ink, and named the store as Yidege.

With its high quality and wide reputation, Yidege was rewarded as a Chinese time-honored brand and intangible cultural heritage.
