The Commercial Press

As the oldest publishing agency in China, the Commercial Press was founded in 1897 in Shanghai and relocated to Beijing in 1954.

The founding of the Commercial Press represents the beginning of China’s modern publishing industry. Following the correct publishing direction, the Commercial Press insists in the principle of “ academics as the foundation; quality comes first”, pursuing the classicicality and authority of its publications. The Commercial Press has published around 400 kinds of publications, paying attention to quality and originality of publications and focusing on academic creation and cultural accumulation.

For more than a century, the Commercial Press shoulders responsibilities of inspiring the nation, popularizing knowledge and broadcasting culture at home and abroad.
