Shi’s Grand Courtyard

Started to build in 1875, Shi’s Grand Courtyard is a residential complex of late Qing Dynasty. Located in the center of Yangliuqing Ancient Town, Shi’s Grand Courtyard was once praised as “the best mansion in Huabei region”. With a history of more than 138 years, Shi’s Grand Courtyard is famous for its unique architectural structure and exquisite pattern.

The owner of the mansion, Shi’s family, was once one of the eight most rich families in Tianjin. During around two-hundred years, Shi’s Grand Courtyard witnesses the process of settling, striving, succeeding and finally declining of Shi’s family.

In may 25, 2006, as ancient architectures of Qing Dynasty, Shi’s Grand Courtyard was granted by the State Council enrolling the list of key cultural relic sites under national protection.
