Qinhuang Botanical Garden, located in the northwest of Qinhuangdao Haigang District, the west bank of Dashanghe River, covers an area of 28.95 hectares and has a total investment of 246 million RMB. The overall construction is divided into two phases. The first phase of the project is its southern park, which started construction in late August 2007 and officially opened to the public on July 18, 2008. The second phase of the project is its Northern Park, which officially started construction on October 15, 2008 and opened to the public on August 11, 2009. This project is planned and designed by Beijing Turen Landscape Architecture Planning and Design Institute, and organized and implemented by the People's Government of Haigang District. In October 2008, the first phase of Qinhuang Botanical garden won the first "China Environmental Art Award" for its rich display contents, diverse display methods and distinctive features. In 2009, it was awarded the "New Landscape Architecture Award" by Hebei Landscape Architecture Association. In 2011, it was successively awarded the "Top 10 Parks in Hebei Province" and "Five Star Parks in Hebei Province" .
With more than 350 species of plants from 52 families, six exhibition areas have been formed, including Mountain park, Urban humanistic theme park, The littoral biological environment exhibition, Cebu flowers park,Ccolorful streamer with special plant display and Medicinal plant exhibition area at the entrance. In addition, there are four characteristic exhibition areas, that is, soil, water, egret pavilion and flamingo pavilion.
The trees in the park are shaded and the scenery is pleasant. Different from the traditional way of plant display, the park creatively makes visitors vividly and intuitively understand the effects of soil, moisture, sunlight and temperature on plant growth and experience the changes of plant communities in different environments such as mountains, plains and waterside. It enables people to understand the development of plant forms, taste the unique cultural connotation of plants, and also feel the rapid development of ecological technology in the city. In particular, demonstrating the relationship between sunlight and plant growth along the west bank of the Shanghe River , Bailu Kiosk like a line of egrets spreading their wings echoes the gurbling water of the Shanghe River and the red ribbon at east bank of the Tang River. Fresh and pleasant, beautiful scenery of the tourist environment makes it a green pearl located in the west bank of the Shanghe River.
