Nanhu Scenic Area

The park is planned with a layout of “one axis, three rings, nine zones, and eighteen attractions”. The “Green Expo Path” serves as the main axis connecting the outdoor exhibition park to the core area of Nanhu. The three rings include the outer ring road of the Green Expo Park, the main ring road of the northern exhibition park, and the lake-side road of the Nanhu Scenic Area. The nine zones consist of the outdoor exhibition park, green science popularization area, lakeside resort area, main exhibition hall area, boat experience area, wetland viewing area, water street cultural area, green paradise area, and forest background area. The eighteen attractions include Green Odyssey, Forest Home, Exquisite Colors, Curved Water and Verdant Greenery, Green Expo Path, City Tree and City Flower, Graceful Swans and Elegant Cranes, Seven Stars Inviting the Moon, Spring Blossoms and Autumn Fruits, Water Show Stage, Impression of Nanhu, Zen Charm in the Heart of the Lake, Elegant Dance in the Clear Shadows, Happy Waterside, Boats Moored on the Willow Bank, Scenic Pier, Flower Field and Water Stream, Wetland Charm, and the overall form of the northern exhibition park resembles a tree of life growing out of Nanhu. The total area is 862 acres, with each provincial and municipal exhibition garden occupying 222 acres, public green space occupying 520 acres, and buildings, roads, and water areas occupying 120 acres. The green coverage rate is over 80%. The northern exhibition park has a total of 48 exhibition gardens. Based on the regional characteristics of each province and summarizing the characteristics of past provincial and municipal exhibition gardens, the 48 exhibition gardens are divided into six major sections: Folk Customs, Ancient Charm, Beautiful Jiangnan, Freehand Landscape, Sino-Western Fusion, and
Contemporary Trends.
