The Oil-Paper Umbrella

The oil-paper umbrella is one of the traditional crafts of the Han nationality. As a paper or cloth umbrella that originated in China, it has also spread to other parts of Asia such as Korea, Vietnam, Thailand and Japan, where it has been developed with local characteristics.

Ruoshuitang is one of the few remaining traditional Chinese handmade oil-paper umbrellas. Ruoshuitang oil-paper umbrellas are still made by hand with the original and tedious manual labour.
