The Palace Museum Calendar

In 1925, the establishment of the Palace Museum marked the beginning of a time when the palace collections, which was once the exclusive preserve of the emperor, became the common cultural heritage of the public. The public was curious about everything within the palace.
The 1933-1937 edition of the Palace Calendar was compiled by Mr. Feng Hua, a former member of the Palace. It was a popular art book for both appreciation and utility, which was widely popular. Unfortunately, the publication was later discontinued due to the war.
In late 2009, the Palace Museum Press marked its return to public view by resuming publication of the Palace Calendar, based on the 1937 version. In addition to the traditional calendar function, each page of the calendar selects a photo of a Forbidden City heritage item, accompanied by a short text description. It allows the public to receive a daily study of traditional Chinese culture.
The Palace Museum Calendar has been published for twelve years up to now and has become a pioneering and classic publication in the spread and transmission of traditional culture. It has played an important and active role in promoting the Palace's collections and traditional culture, and is known as "the most beautiful calendar in China".
