Dahongluochang Pocket Park

The symbol of this small park is a small red basket, which is very eye-catching against an ancient gray screen. It not only embodies the origin of Dahongluochang Street but also reflects the historical memory of this street for hundreds of years.

According to the "Ming Palace History" record, "All the red silk charcoal used in each palace is made of hard wood burned in the mountains around Yizhou, transported to Hongluochang, cut into small round wicker baskets according to size, and brushed with red soil to fill them, hence the name "red silk charcoal"." The place for storing red silk charcoal was named Hongluochang, and the names of Dahongluochang and the former Xiaohongluochang were derived from this red basket.

Walking past the screen to the west, you will see a peaceful "paradise on earth". Locally common plants in old Beijing such as acacia, lilac, winter jasmine, magnolia, and crabapple show the living charm of old Beijing. Three stone piers have become a place for nearby residents to exercise and rest.

On the west side of the stone pedestal, there is a small bamboo forest, which adds a touch of Jiangnan style to the Beijing Flavor Park. Behind the small bamboo forest is another scenery, including a wisteria arbor, fitness equipment, and promotional columns, which add a bit of liveliness to the park. Elderly people resting on the arbor benches, children laughing and playing on the seesaw, and neighbors chatting in front of the promotional columns make this a favorite leisure park for ordinary residents, and also continue the modern story of Dahongluo Chang Street.
