Erqi Factory, built in 1897, is now the Science and Technology Innovation City. It retains its industrial style and historical traces, with transformed fashion studios, creative shops, and handicraft workshops.
In 1897, the Erqi Locomotive Factory, the largest production base for railway locomotives in China, was built at No. 1, Yanggongzhuang, Erqi Factory Road, Fengtai District, Beijing. The renovated Science and Technology Innovation City is also named after it.
The renovated factory is full of vitality but keeps the industrial style, as well as the historical traces of the Erqi factory. Many small objects seem to tell the story of the past to visitors.
