Qingfeng Park

Qingfeng Park is named after the Qingfeng Locks on the Tonghui River. The Tonghui River, navigable since 1292, was a crucial waterway for grain transport to the capital, with Qingfeng Locks serving as a bustling hub.

Today, Qingfeng Locks stand as a testament to the Grand Canal's historical significance, surrounded by a rich cultural atmosphere. Qingfeng Park incorporates "sails" and "ships" into its design, creating a scenic riverside ecological park. The park stretches 2,300 meters long, covering an area of 26.7 hectares, with rivers, meadows, and flower fields. It offers a serene summer retreat for local residents.

Part 1: Along the Riverbanks, Above the Bridge

"Datong Sail Surge" is one of the park's eight major attractions. It features three sets of white sails made from hard white metal frames, accompanied by water features and carved stone sculptures, aiming to recreate the historical scene of river transport.

"New City Vista" is a double-layered platform and the highest point in the East Park. From this platform, visitors can view landmarks such as Beijing Television Station across the Tonghui River.

Qingfeng Park is divided into East and West sections, connected by a bridge over the Tonghui River. Above the bridge, there is a bustling flow of people and traffic. Below, the calm river and the interplay of light and shadow create a surprisingly tranquil and serene atmosphere.

Part 2: Hidden Photo Spot – Train Tracks

In the southern part of the park, adjacent to a major railway line, there's a hidden gem for photography enthusiasts. In spring, the road is flanked by blooming roses. While waiting for a train, take a stroll and enjoy the scenery.

Part 3: Picturesque Landscapes

Within the park stands a 500-year-old ancient pagoda tree. Literary giant Cao Xueqin once sipped tea and composed poetry under this very tree, which has since been known as the "Literary Pagoda Tree."

The park boasts a diverse array of plant species, including willows, locust trees, plane trees, and the rare Euonymus bungeanus, offering different scenic views throughout the year.

In addition to exploring the ancient trees, visitors can enjoy colorful ornamental flowers, various roses, daylilies, crabapples, and a vast sea of pinks.

On a clear day, looking up at the sky is a joy. The combination of blue skies and fluffy clouds provides an incredibly relaxing visual experience.

Qingfeng Park, often referred to as the "Backyard of the CBD," is a favorite spot for nearby residents to take leisurely walks. The smooth, spacious paths are also ideal for running and morning exercises.

When you get tired, you can rest on one of the benches. The park's elevated areas feature traditional pavilions where seniors often showcase their talents and compete in games, sometimes spending an entire afternoon there.
