The China Science and Technology Museum has a distinctive architectural design. The main structure is a large, singular square composed of interlocking block-like units, resembling a giant "Lu Ban lock" or a "Rubik's cube", symbolizing "unlocking" and "exploration."
The new museum features five main theme exhibition halls: "Science Paradise," "Glory of China," "Exploration and Discovery," "Science and Life," and "Challenge and Future." It also includes public display areas and four special-effect theaters: a dome theater, an IMAX theater, a motion theater, and a 4D theater. The dome theater serves both as an IMAX cinema and a planetarium. Additionally, the new museum houses several laboratories, classrooms, a science report hall, a multifunctional hall, and a temporary exhibition hall.
