The new museum features five main theme exhibition halls: "Science Paradise," "Glory of China," "Exploration and Discovery," "Science and Life," and "Challenge and Future." It also includes public display areas and four special-effect theaters: a dome theater, an IMAX theater, a motion theater, and a 4D theater. The dome theater serves both as an IMAX cinema and a planetarium. Additionally, the new museum houses several laboratories, classrooms, a science report hall, a multifunctional hall, and a temporary exhibition hall.
China Garden Museum is the first national museum in China with the theme of gardens. It has been under construction since 2010 and opened for operation in May 2013.
