China Great Wall Museum (中国长城博物馆)

The China Great Wall Museum is located on the Badaling Great Wall. In 1994, the museum was officially opened to the public. The Great Wall themed museum has comprehensively manifested the history and status quo of the Great Wall. The museum is an archaistic jointed building imitating the style of an ancient beacon tower.

Shaped like the Great Wall, the solemn and mighty museum looks like a part of the Great Wall, enhancing each other’s beauty. The exhibition route is elaborately designed with winding passages resembling the ups and downs of the Great Wall. Properties involving impregnable passes, mountain passes, beacon towers and enemy fortifications have been provided to create the emulational environment of the Great Wall.

The China Great Wall Museum has gathered the essences of cultural relics unearthed from various places along the Great Wall. Matched with the detailed historical documents, photos and models, the Great Wall, the emblem of Chinese nation and the most important world cultural heritage has been elaborately shown to all.

The basic exhibition consisting of seven parts has sorted out the history of building and development of the Great Wall, represented the historical fact that ethnic groups inside and outside the Great Wall have been seeking long-term mutual development and cultural exchanges, and demonstrated the concern and care of all nations, regions and countries for the Great Wall. In the museum, significant exhibits also include photos of 200 heads of 120 states who visited the Great Wall in the last 40 years.

Relying on hi-tech devices, the scenes of warfare on the Great Wall have been simulated so as to provide a stronger visual experience and add funs to visitors. The Museum is distinct from the rest museums of its kind in China as these precious exhibits are only possessed by the China Great Wall Museum.
