The Museum of the War of the Chinese People's Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, established in 1987, is the only large-scale comprehensive museum in China dedicated to the history of the Chinese people's War of Resistance Against Japan. It officially opened to the public on July 7, 1987, and is currently a national first-class museum.
The memorial hall vividly portrays the magnificent scenes of the Chinese nation's resistance throughout the war. It primarily features historical photographs and artifacts, supplemented by landscapes, oil paintings, sculptures, and films. The exhibits provide a panoramic display of the heroic resistance by various ethnic groups, classes, political parties, social organizations, patriots, compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, and overseas Chinese against Japanese militaristic aggression. The hall highlights the significant contributions of the Chinese theater, as the main battlefield in the East, to the victory of the global anti-fascist war.
Over the years, the Museum of the War of the Chinese People's Resistance Against Japanese Aggression has been dedicated to the collection, preservation, and research of cultural relics. The museum has conducted extensive artifact collection trips within various provinces in China as well as in the United States, Japan, and other locations. It also accepts donations from friendly individuals across society. Currently, the museum houses over 25,000 items (sets) of artifacts. These artifacts encompass various historical aspects, including military, political, economic, cultural, and social dimensions. The museum's collection is characterized by its focus on the "July 7th Incident artifact group, artifacts related to significant figures in the War of Resistance, paper documents from the wartime period, and weapons and equipment used by the invading Japanese army.
