Tianjin Museum

Tianjin Museum is a comprehensive museum of history and art. Its predecessor can be traced back to the Tianjin Museum established in 1918. It is one of the earliest museums established in China. The new Tianjin Museum is located in Tianjin Cultural Centre. It was completed and opened to the public in 2012.

The new building of Tianjin museum has five floors above ground and one underground floor. The total investment of the new building is 830 million yuan, with a total construction area of 64,003 square meters, of which the exhibition hall area is 14,000 square meters and the warehouse area is 11,000 square meters. The new building has a 2,800-square-meter temporary exchange exhibition hall. In addition to the basic display and thematic display of cultural relics in the collection, large-scale temporary special exhibitions at home and abroad can be held from time to time; the international lecture hall can accommodate nearly 400 people, with first-class facilities and equipment, and can hold large-scale special exhibitions and international academic exchange activities.

The completion of the new building fully meets the functional needs of museum exhibitions, collection management, academic research, cultural relics protection and restoration, and social education. It is the largest large-scale public welfare culture in Tianjin integrating collection, protection, research, display and education. Institutions and windows for foreign cultural exchanges.
