Beijing Botanical Garden

Located at the foot of Xishan Mountain, Beijing Botanical Garden covers an area of 400 hectares. It is a comprehensive botanical garden that mainly collects, displays and preserves plant resources, and integrates scientific research, scientific popularization, sightseeing and recreation, plant germplasm resource conservation and new superior plant development functions.
The botanical exhibition area is divided into three parts: the ornamental plant area, the arboretum, and the greenhouse area. The ornamental plant area consists of specialized gardens, including rose garden, peach blossom garden, peony garden, peony garden, lilac garden, crabapple garden, magnolia garden, bamboo garden, perennial flower garden, and plum garden. The rose garden is the largest specialized garden in China, cultivating nearly 1000 rose varieties. The peach blossom garden is the world's largest collection of peach blossom varieties, attracting millions of visitors during the annual "Beijing Peach Blossom Festival" in spring. The arboretum consists of areas dedicated to ginkgo, pine, cypress, maple, poplar, and paulownia. The tropical plant exhibition greenhouse was named one of the top ten buildings in Beijing in the 1990s. The bonsai garden mainly displays the craftsmanship and works of various bonsai schools in China.

The area of historical sites and scenic spots consists of Wofo Temple, Cherry Valley, the Cao Xueqin Memorial Hall, the Tomb of Liang Qichao, and the ruins of Longjiao Temple. Wofo Temple, built during the Tang Dynasty, is a nationally protected cultural relic, housing a reclining bronze statue of Shakyamuni Buddha from the Yuan Dynasty. Cherry Valley is densely forested and serves as an important nature conservation and education area near Beijing. The Cao Xueqin Memorial Hall showcases the life of Cao Xueqin and the scenes of him writing "Dream of the Red Mansions" in Xishan Mountain.
