The first phase of the park was completed and a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held. However, due to the incomplete construction, the park has not been opened for the sake of safety. The second phase of the park, that is, the entertainment and leisure facilities on the west side of the park, is currently awaiting the approval of relevant departments, and will start as soon as possible once it is approved.
The park’s construction began in 1984 and it became the largest park in Beijing. It is approximately 2.8 km in length and approximately 1.5 km in width.
The park is composed of the drama building, central square, Peking Opera sculpture, Yunguang Lake and other scenic spots.
It covers an area of 33.4 hectares, among which the green coverage area is 26.16 hectares, the decoration area is 4.9 hectares and its water coverage is 2.34 hectares.
