China National Film Museum

As the world’s largest professional film museum so far, China National Film Museum (CNFM) is a large-scale public cultural institution, national first-class museum, film culture expos for youth and so on. It was built to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Chinese Cinema, to illustrate history of Chinese film, to demonstrate film technologies, to spread film culture and to conduct academic research exchanges.
Covering an area of 53 mu with building area of 38,000 square meters, CNFM was constructed in Dec. 29th, 2005 and opened to the public in Feb. 10th, 2007. The CNFM building was designed by U.S. RTKL International Inc. and Beijing Construction Design Institution jointly. The building uses black as its main color and is decorated with metal plates, giving it a sense of elegance and mystery. At night, with the brilliant night lights, the whole building looks more unique and charming.
Dedicated to showcasing the century-long history of Chinese film, the China National Film Museum features 21 exhibition halls across four floors, along with six screening rooms where visitors can enjoy free movies. The museum’s impressive displays and beautifully set scenes provide an immersive experience into the world of Chinese films.
