Hebei Museum, formerly known as Hebei Provincial Museum, was established in 1953. It is the only provincial-level comprehensive museum in Hebei Province, and a national first-class museum. It currently owns a total of 240,000 collections.

Hebei Museum

Hebei Museum, formerly known as Hebei Provincial Museum, was established in 1953. It is the only provincial-level comprehensive museum in Hebei Province, and a national first-class museum. It currently owns a total of 240,000 collections.

Hebei Museum includes three parts: main campus, Jianhua campus, and Yucai campus. The main campus is located in Shijiazhuang Cultural Square and is divided into two areas: the south area and the north area. The north area was built in 1968 and the south area is a new expansion area. The buildings in the two areas are harmonious and unified, majestic and magnificent. Jianhua Campus and Yucai Campus are cultural relics warehouses, with a total of 210,000 pieces.

Hebei Museum gathers the advantages of the cultural relics collections, captures the most brilliant parts in Hebei’s history, and launches 10 permanent exhibitions: The Stone Age of Hebei, The Civilization of Shang Dynasty in Hebei, The Story of State Yan, Treasures of Han Dynasty—The Han Tombs in Mancheng County, Mighty Ancient Zhongshan State, Famous Kilns and Porcelains, Murals of Northern Dynasties, Quyang Stone Carvings, Anti-Japanese Beacon Fire—Hero Hebei, Enjoy Hebei Intangible Cultural Heritage Reception Hall—Hebei Achievement Exhibition on the Preservation of Intangible Cultural Heritage. Through more than 5,000 pieces of exquisite cultural relics and modern display methods, the continuous history of human development in Hebei for 2 million years has been recorded. Every year, Hebei Museum also holds a number of temporary exhibitions on history, art, nature, technology, current affairs, folk customs, etc., which greatly enrich people's spiritual and cultural life.
