Shougang No.3 Blast Furnace Museum

During its upgrading and renovating process, many industrial remains in Shougang Park, once were abandoned, now have been given a new life. One of the most outstanding architecture onside the park is No.3 Blast Furnace Museum which now has been successfully turned into a modern activity spot. It used to be the place where housed the most iron-making equipment, and was discarded for years after the Shougang Group's relocation.
As one of the most challenging problems encountered by operational teams, how to transform such a giant industrial structure - with the effective volume of 2,500 cubic meters - into a civil building was extremely tricky at that time, especially under the circumstance that there was no precedent cases to follow. As the first of their kind, No.3 Blast Furnace Museum's design proposal and construction norms make the transformation a pioneering project of great significance.
Nowadays, Shougang No.3 Blast Furnace Museum is one of the most hot event venues in Beijing where has staged plenty of large-scale cultural events such as Beijing New Year Celebration, the International Illustration Exhibition, the Opening Show of Beijing International Fashion Week and the China Science Fiction Convention.
Tips: The No.3 Blast Furnace is not open to individual visitors except for event participants.
