During the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games, Big Air Shougang, as the venue for the Freestyle Skiing Big Air and Snowboard Big Air competitions, witnessed the exciting moment of two marvelous Chinese athletes, Gu Ailing and Su Yiming’ championship. When people exclaimed their excellent achievement, this architecture with unique design also attached many people's attention.
The design of Big Air draws inspiration from the image of Dunhuang's Flying Apsara and Shougang’s industrial legacy. Look closely, you may find that the profile curve of the venue actually imitate the fluttering ribbons of Dunhuang's Flying Apsaras. The Big Air Shougang perfectly combines traditional Chinese elements with contemporary winter sports. Viewed from afar, the Big Air looks like an elegant stiletto. When cast in the light at night , it looks just like the crystal stiletto left by Cinderela.
The Big Air Shougang hosted the 2019 Air & Style Beijing FIS Snowboard and Freestyle Big Air World Cup in December 2019, as well as the Freestyle Skiing Big Air and Snowboard Big Air competitions in the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games, as the only snow venue in the Beijing competition Zone .
